DESCRIPTION:
The ACT Enterprise Web Application Development team is responsible for developing and supporting the core web-based administrative computing and telecommunication systems for UCSD. This position's responsibilities include developing, implementing and maintaining complex or moderately complex web-based administrative information systems in the area of Contracts and Grants administration. In addition, the incumbent must provide assistance to other programmer analysts, as needed, and assist campus departments with their computer-based information needs. Emphasis is on the development and enhancement of complex computer systems implemented on a wide support base, including J2EE, XML, SOA & SODA, Java Frameworks, Oracle, DB2, JavaScript, CSS, HTML, and Unix utilities. Knowledge of Perl and experience working with Unix and SUN Solaris preferred. Computing is performed on desktops and deployed to a large computer center consisting of Unix and IBM servers and mainframes.

Required Experience:
* Detailed technical knowledge of Java, J2EE, OO, Javascript, Server-side frameworks, Web Services.
* Proven experience with Unix, SQL, RDBMS such as Sybase, DB2, Oracle.
* Proven experience with problem solving techniques, testing, debugging.
* Experience with software design and analysis, full software lifecycle, UML, Agile development, project documentation.
* Experience collaborating with several programmers on large software systems.
* Ability to think independently, evaluate project requirements, make recommendations.
* Ability to evaluate workload and resources, plan day-to-day workload, adjust schedules and priorities as required.
* Proficient skills in written and verbal communication.
* Must be adaptive to the use of new software aids and programming techniques adopted within ACT.
